Plant Care

• Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Can tolerate lower light but will grow more slowly and may lose some of its vibrant leaf color.
• Water: Keep the soil evenly moist. Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil feel dry. Avoid overwatering to prevent root rot.
• Temperature: Thrives in temperatures between 65-75°F (18-24°C). Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 50°F (10°C).
• Humidity: Prefers high humidity. Mist the leaves regularly or place on a humidity tray if the air is dry.
• Soil: Well-draining, light potting mix. A general houseplant mix with added perlite works well.
• Fertilizing: Feed monthly with a balanced liquid fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce feeding in the fall and winter.
• Pruning: Trim any yellow or damaged leaves to maintain a neat appearance. Ctenanthe grows slowly, so little pruning is usually required.
• Pests: Can attract spider mites, aphids, or mealybugs. Treat with insecticidal soap if necessary.
• Toxicity: Non-toxic to pets, making it a pet-friendly option.
