Plant Care

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
  • Water: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry, and ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.
  • Temperature: Thrives in temperatures between 65-75°F (18-24°C). Keep away from cold drafts and temperatures below 50°F (10°C).
  • Humidity: Prefers high humidity. Mist the leaves regularly, or place the plant on a humidity tray, especially in dry environments.
  • Soil: Well-draining, rich, and slightly acidic potting mix. A general houseplant mix with added perlite works well.
  • Fertilizing: Feed monthly with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer). Cut back in the winter.
  • Pruning: Remove any yellowing or damaged leaves to maintain a tidy appearance.
  • Pests: Can attract spider mites or aphids. Treat with insecticidal soap if needed.
  • Toxicity: Non-toxic to pets, making it a safe choice for homes with animals.
