Plant Care

• Light: Prefers bright, indirect light for the best color. Can tolerate some direct sunlight but avoid too much, as it can scorch the leaves.
• Water: Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil are dry. Keep the soil evenly moist but not soggy. Be sure the pot has good drainage to prevent root rot.
• Temperature: Thrives in warm temperatures between 65-85°F (18-29°C). Avoid exposure to cold drafts and temperatures below 50°F (10°C).
• Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity. Mist the leaves regularly or use a humidifier if needed, especially in dry indoor conditions.
• Soil: Well-draining, slightly acidic potting mix. A mix for houseplants with added perlite or sand for better drainage works well.
• Fertilizing: Fertilize once a month during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer. Cut back in fall and winter.
• Pruning: Trim any dead or yellowing leaves to maintain a tidy appearance. Crotons can also be pruned to shape or control their size.
• Pests: Can attract spider mites, aphids, and scale. Check regularly and treat with insecticidal soap if needed.
• Toxicity: Toxic to pets if ingested, so keep away from cats and dogs.
